JPIC - Care for Creation

As followers of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology, we believe that caring for creation is not optional—it is a sacred responsibility.  At the Sacred Heart Fraternity, we recognize the interconnectedness of all life and strive to live in right relationship with God, with others, and with the Earth.

Formation, Reflection, and Action

Our commitment to ecological conversion is ongoing. As part of our bi-monthly formation, we begin with prayer for our common home and reflect deeply on the teachings of the Church and the example of St. Francis.

Our fraternity has:

        • Studied and reflected on Pope Francis’ encyclicals Laudato Si’ and Laudato Deum
        • Watched and discussed The Letter, a film inspired by Laudato Si’
        • Taken annual inventories of both individual and collective efforts to live sustainably
        • Encouraged Zero Waste practices at all meetings and events
        • Committed to using reusable tableware, including cloth napkins and washable utensils

Living Out Our Values

Care for Creation is not just something we talk about—it is something we live. Each quarter, our fraternity joins the Care for Creation Ministry at Sacred Heart Catholic Church to participate in community clean-up efforts, including street cleaning and neighborhood beautification.

These actions reflect our belief that even small, consistent steps can become powerful acts of stewardship and witness.

“Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue.”Laudato Si’, 217

This Is Who We Are

Caring for creation is an essential part of living the Gospel. As Franciscans, we walk gently on the Earth, honoring the Creator by cherishing His creation. Through education, prayer, and action, we seek to inspire others to join us in protecting our common home—for today and for generations to come.
